Black Library Audio App

There’s been a variety of Games Workshop apps available for the last year or two, from the general Warhammer: The App which collects together news and blog posts from across the hobby, to some game-specific companion apps. Not wanting to be left out, Black Library have now got involved with the snappily titled Black Library Audio App, available on iOS and Android.

Black Library – What’s Coming Soon

Earlier today I posted a blog about upcoming Black Library releases, off the back of a load of new titles popping up briefly online. These releases didn’t stay visible for long, but I’d grabbed a few screenshots which I thought might be of interest to Black Library fans. Since then however, something unexpected has happened – Black Library have added an actual Coming Soon page to their website!

Black Library – Upcoming Releases (Oct 2016)

EDIT: since I first posted this, a Coming Soon page has gone live on the Black Library website! I’ve put up an updated post with more information here.

For a short while this morning there was a whole host of upcoming releases showing up on the Black Library website – a plethora of 40k and Horus Heresy goodness, enough to set the heart of any Black Library fan racing. Since then everything has been removed from the site, but I was quick enough to snag a bunch of screenshots of most of the upcoming titles. Fancy a look? Read on…

Getting Started with Black Library: Warhammer 40,000

EDITED 24th June 2017 with the inclusion of 40k 8th Edition

Someone asked me on Twitter recently if I’d written anything about where to get started with reading Black Library books, for someone just getting into Warhammer 40,000. That’s actually a really interesting question which I thought deserved more of an answer than I could give on Twitter, so here I’m going to have a go at answering it in a bit more detail.

We're going to need a bigger bookshelf!

And the winner is… #my40klegend competition

A couple of weeks ago I announced that I was running a competition to win a full subscription to the new Warhammer 40,000 Legends partwork collection, courtesy of the kind folks over at Hachette. The competition was pretty easy to enter – just get in touch with me on the blog, Facebook or Twitter and, using the hashtag #my40klegend, let me know who your favourite 40k character is from the Black Library catalogue.

Gollancz Fest 2016

Gollancz Festival 2016

The weekend of the 17th and 18th September saw science fiction and fantasy publisher Gollancz put on its annual Gollancz Fest event, a two-day affair giving fans and writers the opportunity to mingle, network and discuss their shared love for the genres. Taking place at the beautiful Foyles bookshop on Charing Cross Road and the slightly less beautiful Phoenix Artist Club just across the road, it was split up into a range of sessions including workshops, panels and even a party, meaning fans could pick and choose what they wanted to attend over the two days.

Warhammer 40,000 Legends Issue One - The First Heretic

Warhammer 40,000 Legends Issue One – First Impressions

The Warhammer 40,000 Legends collection from Hachette and Black Library has officially launched, and I’ve got my hands on Issue One to take a close look at, featuring fan favourite The First Heretic by Aaron Dembski-Bowden. Before we take a look at the book itself though, let’s take a step back and talk about the collection as a whole…

Black Library Live! 2016 – Here’s Hoping!

The fans have spoken, Black Library have listened, and events are back on the calendar with the announcement of Black Library Live! 2016. Dedicated Black Library events, that is – since the last Black Library events in 2014 there have been a couple of Horus Heresy Weekenders run in conjunction with Forge World, and various events at Warhammer World, but nothing that’s been specifically focused on the fiction of the Warhammer universes. The other events have been fun, but it’s about time we got something dedicated to the work of Black Library.

Warhammer 40,000 Legends

Warhammer 40,000 Legends on Track of Words

The Warhammer 40,000 Legends collection. 80 hardback 40k and Horus Heresy books, complete with some lovely new art across the spines. Cool, right? I’ve got a competition running to win a subscription, and I’ve got reviews on the way looking at the books themselves. I’m a fan already, and I think it’s going to be awesome. I’m going to be totally open about this though…
