Perdition’s Flame – Alec Worley

The first ever Warhammer Horror audio drama, and Alec Worley’s first audio drama for Black Library, Perdition’s Flame is the story of comms man Vossk, formerly of the 86th Vostroyan Firstborn, en route to a penal legion as punishment for desertion. Imprisoned alongside murderers and sadists and warded by stern Praetorian Guard, when the ship’s systems start to fail Vossk realises that the horrors he thought he’d left behind have followed him into the void. Something on the ship is causing the failures and spooking both crew and inmates, but Vossk is trapped in his cell while the darkness draws closer.

RAPID FIRE: Alec Worley Talks Perdition’s Flame

Welcome to this instalment of Rapid Fire, my ongoing series of quick interviews with Black Library authors talking about their new releases. These are short and sweet interviews, with the idea being that each author will answer (more or less) the same questions – by the end of each interview I hope you will have a good idea of what the new book (or audio drama) is about, what inspired it and why you might want to read or listen to it.

In this instalment I spoke to Alec Worley about his new Warhammer Horror audio drama, Perdition’s Flame, which is available to order right now! It’s Alec’s first Black Library audio drama, and one of the first few Warhammer Horror releases to land, so I’m really excited about this one.

Repentia is Alec Worley’s second Adepta Sororitas short story, after the impressive Whispers, this time exploring – as the title suggests – the Sisters Repentia, Battle Sisters whose sins have seen them cast out from their Orders and sworn to seek redemption in death. QUICK REVIEW: Whispers – Alec Worley

Alec Worley’s third Black Library short story, Whispers sees the Adepta Sororitas in action, responding to the summons of missionary Marcus Amouris to a backwater world whose tribes he hopes to bring into the fold of the Imperium. Something has been hunting the tribespeople and Amouris needs it removing but as he and the Sisters of Battle, led by Dominion Superior Adamanthea, venture into the deep forests and reach the City of Whispers, his assertion that it’s merely a dangerous indigenous predator is quickly challenged.

QUICK REVIEW: Pride and Penitence – Alec Worley

For his second Black Library short story, Alec Worley tackles the famous Blood Bowl team The Bright Crusaders, who are finding it tough in the final of the Purity Cup against the skaven of the Doomtown Rats. Desperate to prove that they can win big despite their famous no-cheating stance they turn to their star player, Gerhardt the Penitent, to see them through. The only problem is, Gerhardt’s skill on the pitch is equalled by his obsession with proving his humility in ways which invariably hinder the team’s progress. With time running out, can he find a way to retain his code and still help his team win?

Forced to go into battle without placating the machine-spirit of his Stormwolf, Anvarr finds himself in a desperate fight against the dark eldar’s own flyers where he needs all of his skill, and the cooperation of his gunship, to survive.
